Altek: 8-Mp camera with GPS will soon be on sale
Taiwanese company Altek presented a new 8-Mp digital camera with GPS navigation functions. It is estimated that the sale of convergent devices will begin during the second quarter of 2008. The price is not known yet, but it won’t be more expensive than other 8-Mp cameras on the market.
Altek camera has a touch screen with 3-inch diagonal. Thanks to the support of special functions the camera provides such data of images as latitude and longitude. This information can be used in Google Earth, Google Map and Flickr. If you transferred a captured picture to your friend, he will be able (with the use of navigational programs) to learn how to get to the places depicted.
Manufacturer expects that the development will benefit from demand in anticipation of the Olympic Games in Beijing. Currently, Altek is in talks with partners who take for the sale of GPS cameras in Europe and the United States.
